SIGNS OF A SICK WILLOW TREE IN FORT WORTH, TX

10/12/2020

MY WILLOW TREE LOOKS SICK. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

When your prized willow tree is showing signs of a sick tree, always contact an experienced tree company promptly. There are many issues that can negatively affect your willow tree's health; therefore, contact a tree care specialist who will know how to treat your willow tree.

The arbor care professional will evaluate and assess the health of your willow and complete a tree evaluation report. Willow trees grow quickly and have a massive root system. When in question, always contact the best arborist in Fort Worth, Texas!

WHAT ARE SIGNS OF A SICK WILLOW TREE?

The signs that your willow tree will exhibit when it is sick vary depending upon the disease or insect pest that has attacked it. Generally, the tree will have premature defoliation, dieback, crumbling leaves, stunted growth and foliage discoloration. When you observe these signs or sense that your willow tree is declining in health, always contact a tree care specialist.

ARE THERE TREE DISEASES OR INSECT PESTS THAT CAN HURT MY WILLOW TREE?

Yes! Below are some of the many tree diseases and insect pests that our tree care experts regularly encounter and battle here in the Fort Worth area:
  • ROOT ROT: This dreaded disease targets the willow's root structure and will result in an overall decline of your prized willow tree's health. It's imperative that you contact an experienced tree company as soon as you see that your willow tree appears to be sick. Early treatment is essential!
  • WILLOW SCAB: A tree fungus disease, willow scab will kill new growth on the willow tree and cause unsightly canker sores to manifest. If treatment is administered quickly, it can usually be battled. Don't wait until it's too late! Willow trees are known for loving water, but fungal tree diseases do also! Contact the best arborist in Fort Worth right away!
  • BAGWORMS: Those odd cone formations hanging from your willow tree are deceptive bagworms! They form these cones from bits of leaves and bark so as to hide inside and protect themselves. They will cause premature defoliation in a short period of time; therefore, contact a tree care specialist as soon as you observe them. Here in Fort Worth, they go on a feeding frenzy from April through the summer. Take action and enlist the services of a tree care specialist immediately!
  • GYPSY MOTH: The population of these voracious insect predators is increasing in record numbers. Their infestation can completely defoliate the tree. Not only will your willow tree have an unsightly appearance, these moths will cause the willow to have stunted growth and become stressed and vulnerable to other infectious tree diseases. Take action immediately because gypsy moths reproduce quickly. Without treatment, your willow and your outdoor environment will be overtaken by these insect pests!

WHAT CAN I DO TO KEEP MY WILLOW TREE HEALTHY?

Graceful willow trees enhance your environmental grounds. They are not only beautiful, they add value to your property. Protecting their health is of the utmost importance!

If you sense that your prized willow is declining in health, take the proactive approach and contact an experienced tree company. The best way to handle a tree disease or insect pest that is damaging your willow tree is to prevent the frustrating situation from ever happening in the first place!
  • REGULAR PRUNING: Regularly-scheduled pruning by a professional tree pruning service will prevent destructive diseases such as tree fungus from destroying your willow tree. They will see to it that damaged limbs are pruned and destroyed. Guarding the health of your valuable willow tree is crucial!
  • DEEP ROOT FERTILIZATION: We highly recommend this very important tree health care treatment!  The highly-trained tree expert injects under pressure the liquid nutrients and minerals that the willow tree needs directly into its root zone. Don't mistakenly think that fertilizing your yard feeds willow trees adequately! Soil aeration results from the injected oxygen and the problems associated with soil compaction are corrected. Trees that receive this important health treatment annually maintain a robust, strong root structure and are 95% more resistant to damaging tree diseases and insect pest infestations.
  • CONTINUAL TREE HEALTH CARE MAINTENANCE PLAN: You certainly want to make sure that your willow trees always remain beautiful, healthy and strong, don't you? Enlist the services and expertise of an experienced tree company. They will evaluate and assess your outdoor grounds and will customize the perfect maintenance care plan exclusively for you. Willow trees love water, but too much water can invite tree fungus diseases! If controlled watering is necessary, the tree experts will see to it that your prized trees receive that and are guarded. This will give you peace of mind in knowing that your residential grounds will be beautiful and make you proud and that your valuable trees will be safe and protected.

Embrace healthier growth and other benefits of tree trimming

  • Control the shape of your tree. Considered pruning allows you to shape your tree's growth for a winning outline and appearance on your grounds.
  • Keeps disease and decay at bay. Prudent trimming takes of growth that is weak or damaged by poor weather. It also affords the opportunity for a proper examination of your tree, removing rotting or diseased areas that could overtake the tree.
  • It allows light and air to get to trees, shrubs, and plants that are lower down. Taking off thick foliage allows better light penetration and ventilation of plants at a lower level for a more flourishing garden.
  • Keeps yourself and others on your property safe. Research has shown that expert tree pruning can make trees more resilient against storm and wind damage. Broken or ripped off branches can fall and damage property or hurt people, so regular trimming is an essential part of keeping your tree safe.

What is the best time to hire tree trimmers near me?

Tree care is important all year round but for trimming, particularly in deciduous trees, aim to undertake trimming in late autumn and winter.

This is when the tree enters a state of dormancy, where less sap could be lost and the cuttings close off faster. Without foliage, you will also be better able to trim your branches effectively.

Trees are the crowning jewels of most properties be they residential or commercial. However, as visually appealing as they may be, it is important to know that regular monitoring of trees is extremely important to ensure their good health and to ascertain that they pose no danger to people around them.

The Key To Maintaining Your Trees

If you are concerned about the health of any of your trees, it is time to contact a tree service company. Most good ones will have certified arborists. Arborists, commonly referred to as "tree doctors", are experts on all things to do with trees, woody plants, shrubs, and even bushes.

They are qualified to accurately assess a tree's health and deduce whether and how it can be cured or if it is in need of removal. Tree service companies tend to offer all the wide-ranging services that an arborist is likely to recommend for any tree problem he identifies.

Tree Trimming Services in Fort Worth, TX

Tree trimming is a key service that a tree service company provides. Sometimes, a diseased branch needs to be removed so the infestation doesn't spread.

On other occasions, tree trimming becomes necessary for enhancing visual appeal or for preventing the tree from becoming a hazard. A professional will know exactly how to most effectively trim a tree to achieve the desired results.

Tree Service Company You Can Trust

It is important to note that a tree service company can also effectively identify if a tree is in such a state that its removal is the only solution.

While many times sick trees can be cured, on some occasions, they may not be treatable at all, in which case tree removal is the only option. A tree service company can also help assess if the sick tree is posing any structural or biological hazards. In such a case, time will be of the essence and urgent tree removal will be required.

Importantly, even after the removal of the tree, the stump remains and can often pose a number of problems such as hurting the aesthetic appeal of your property, rendering that space unusable or becoming home to ants, termites, and other such pests.

For this reason, stump grinding is a very beneficial service that many tree service companies provide. It is considered to be one of the most effective means of getting rid of tree stumps.

It involves using a machine to grind the stump all the way down to below ground level thus preventing any unwanted regrowth. Another benefit of stump grinding is that the grinder grinds the wood of the stump into sawdust, which can be recycled by being used as mulch for the garden or by being used to fill the hole made in the place of the stump.

CARING FOR YOUNG TREES

10/23/2019

We are your go-to resource for the finest, most extensive tree care service in Fort Worth, Texas and the DFW metroplex region.  For more than 25 years, Tree Service Fort Worth has cared for the trees of homeowners throughout the extensive area we provide tree care  services for.

Most homeowners do not realize the care that young trees require, so don't think you're alone!  Our family-owned and locally-based company puts you first!

Feel free to call us at (817) 502- 9402 and speak with our ISA certified arborist, tree care expert and team of highly-experienced arbor care professionals.  We welcome any questions you have!

I JUST PLANTED SOME SMALL TREES.  WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Caring for young trees is much like watching over a small child.  In order for your young trees to survive and flourish, they must be treated with tender loving care.

After the first several years, the young trees will not require as much hands-on attention.  Remember, your young trees have been subjected too much stress and must become accustomed to their new environment.  They must increase their root systems to be safely secured in the ground.

DEEP WATERING

Shallow surface watering causes the trees to establish weak surface roots.  Deep watering encourages the trees to develop robust root structures that anchor the trees and increase their strength.

Once a week, check the soil moisture approximately six inches below ground.  The soil should be moist but not wet.  During periods of drought as often occurs during our hot Texas summers, watch for wilted or curled leaves.

Contact an experienced tree company if you begin observing this on your young trees.

NATURAL MULCH

Mulch is very important, but don't go crazy with it!  Natural, organic mulch is safe and gentle to your young trees.  Don't put the mulch all the way up to the tree's trunk.

Mulch helps keep the moisture in the soil.  Weeds are stifled from the mulch and your young trees won't have to compete with weed and grass roots.

LIGHTLY TRIM

Avoid pruning young trees.  Lightly trim them only too shape or to remove broken twigs and branches.

GO EASY ON CHEMICALS

Pesticides and herbicides can damage or burn the roots and foliage of young trees.  Keep these chemicals away from your young trees.

After your trees are two-three years old, they are less apt to suffer damage from chemicals; however, go easy with the chemicals near any of your trees.

PROTECT THE TREES FROM WOUNDING

Always have your regular lawn maintenance taken care of by a professional, experienced tree company.  Serious tree diseases and insect infestations invade trees through wounds.  Damages from weed trimmers, mowers or shovels put the health of young trees in jeopardy.

Remember, they are trying to establish themselves.  Avoid planting decorative plants close to the young trees.  Not only does this guard against unintentional wounding, it prevents your trees from having to compete with the root systems of weeds and decorative bedding plants.

MY NEIGHBOR SAID TO JUST WATER THEM A LOT.  HOW MUCH WATER DO MY YOUNG TREES NEED?

Watering should be closely monitored.  Trees need more than just water to remain strong, healthy and have a high resilience to diseases and insect pests.

Too much water can be just as damaging as too little water.  Always contact a tree expert who will advise you on the needs of your specific trees.

ALL I DO FOR MY BIG TREES IS RUN MY SPRINKLER SYSTEM.  ISN'T THAT ENOUGH FOR MY YOUNG TREES?

Unfortunately, no.  Sprinkler systems tend to leave standing water in lower areas within your outdoor grounds.  Tree foliage can become too wet and air doesn't circulate between the branches properly.

Fungal tree diseases thrive in wet conditions.  Controlled watering methods overseen, directed and administered by a tree care specialist guarantee that your trees will receive the water they need and will eliminate the threat of destructive fungal tree diseases.

HOW CAN I BE SURE MY NEW TREES STAY HEALTHY?

When you have questions or concerns, always ask a certified arborist.  It takes many years of experience, on-the-job training and completed stringent tests to become an ISA certified arborist in Texas.  No one can advise you with accuracy and precision like a highly-experienced tree care expert can.

I DON'T WANT TO WORRY ABOUT ALL MY TREES.  WHAT CAN I DO?

Entrust the care of your trees and outdoor environment to the best arborist in Fort Worth, Texas.  We always provide a free consultation.  No two homeowners have the identical habitat grounds and trees.

After closely inspecting your outdoor environment and the specific trees you have, we customize a continual maintenance tree and outdoor grounds health care plan exclusively for you.  This will eliminate you of the worry and work that maintaining healthy trees and a beautiful outdoor environment require.

You will have peace of mind in knowing that your trees will remain healthy and strong.  All of our arbor care professionals are bonded, insured and wear company uniforms for your easy identification and to ensure your safety and the safety of all those present.

HOW TO PROPERLY PRUNE YOUR TREES

10/23/2019

Picture
As the largest provider of full tree care services to Fort Worth, Texas and the entire DFW metroplex region for over 25 years, Tree Service Fort Worth has pruned the trees of many homeowners and businesses throughout our area.

Our ISA certified arborist, tree care expert and entire team of arbor care professionals are licensed, insured and bonded for your protection, the protection of your home and the protection of all those present within your outdoor grounds.

Like any skill, pruning a tree properly requires extensive experience and training to do it correctly.  When in doubt, contact an experienced tree company.  Call us today at (817) 502- 9402.  We always provide a free consultation!

IS PRUNING a TREE REALLY DIFFICULT?

The old idea that using a handsaw or chainsaw is all you need to properly prune trees couldn't be farther from the truth!  We'll put it this way, it is better for your trees not to prune them rather than to prune them incorrectly.

In nature, does anyone prune those trees?  Haven't you seen impressive, towering trees growing freely in forests or out in the country?  Nature tends to those trees naturally.  In established residential neighborhoods, trees must be tended too and cared for properly.  It takes more to prune trees correctly than just using a handsaw or swinging around a chainsaw!

Always contact a tree care specialist when you need assistance with tree pruning.  Your trees are valuable investments that greatly increase your property value.  Don't take chances with your living investments.

MY NEIGHBOR SAID TO JUST CHOP THE BRANCHES OFF AND USE A SEALANT.  IS THAT OKAY?

Definitely not.  Branches and limbs must be cut with precision and accuracy.  You can't just chop them off or your tree will become vulnerable to diseases and infectious agents.  It once was believed that sealants protect the trees; however, sealants can interfere with the tree's natural ability to heal its own wounds.

When sealants and tars are used today it is primarily for aesthetic purposes.  In the US, more trees are destroyed or killed each year from improper pruning than from tree diseases.  Do not attempt to prune your own trees without studying and practicing the correct steps.

CAN'T I JUST USE MY CHAINSAW TO PRUNE MY TREES

Of course you can, but you run the risk of destroying your trees.  To summarize the definition quickly, pruning is removing parts of the tree to improve its health, enhance your landscape visually or increase the tree's value.  Proper tree pruning must be planned with accuracy.  The fewer the cuts, the better it is for your tree.

The cuts must be angled correctly and placed in the proper location on the branch.  Tools must be cleaned properly to eliminate the possibility of spreading contamination throughout your tree or the trees in your area.

Know your tools and study the correct cutting procedures.  Don't ask an unskilled laborer, friend or neighbor how to properly prune your trees.  Always contact a tree care specialist who will answer your questions and give you expert advise.

DO I REALLY NEED TO CALL A PROFESSIONAL TO PRUNE MY TREES?

Unless you are willing and able to study and practice the correct cutting methods and hone your skills using the correct pruning tools, it is always best to entrust the difficult task of tree pruning to an experienced arbor care professional.  Tree pruning is not the same as lightly trimming a tree for visual appeal!

Tree Service Fort Worth puts you first, so call us and schedule your complimentary consultation with our highly-experienced tree care expert.  We are happy to answer any questions you have regarding properly pruning your trees.  If you desire to learn the specific steps needed to prune your trees yourself correctly, we will aid you in learning and perfecting this difficult, challenging task.

Give us a call today at (817) 502- 9402.  We look forward to meeting with you and discussing the options you have.

Signs of Dying Trees in Fort Worth, TX
Below are 5 signs of a dying tree in Fort Worth, TX.

Our family-owned and locally-based experienced tree company provides you with the highest quality tree care services available and at the lowest prices to be found anywhere.

As you might expect, we are frequently asked if a tree is sick or dying. If you are questioning the health of your tree, give us a call at (817) 502-9402. You are top priority with us, provide a free consultation and we gladly welcome your questions!

I Have A Tree That Looks Terrible. Is It Dying?

Sick and dying trees frequently exhibit similar symptoms initially.  We always advice that if your tree looks terrible, don't ignore it!  When in doubt, contact a tree care specialist immediately.

Your tree will be closely examined by an ISA certified arborist and a diagnosis report will be presented to you after the cause of your declining tree is determined. If your tree has an incurable disease, is already dead or is too severely sick, tree removal will be necessary.

As with any disease, the earlier you treat it the less damage that will occur. Unfortunately, we meet many homeowners who wait too long. Don't let that be you!

What Signs Do Dying Trees Show in Fort Worth, TX?

In general, there are five warning signs you should watch for. If you observe any of the following, contact an arbor care professional promptly.
  1. Fungal Presence: No matter where you notice fungal presence throughout your outdoor habitat, it is never a positive sign. Standing water, excessive soil moisture and poor drainage due to compacted soil causes damaging fungi to thrive. If you observe fungi on your tree's trunk or around its baseline, the tree may be in the process of dying. Contact a tree care specialist quickly!
  2. Odd Tree Trunk Appearance: Is the bark on your tree's trunk consistent in appearance? Is there bald areas with missing bark or dents and cracks? Does the area around branches that connect to the trunk appear damaged? All these symptoms are cause for alarm.
  3. Excessive/Untimely Leaf Loss: Premature defoliation is a warning sign. Many trees naturally shed their leaves in the fall; however, if your tree seems to be shedding an excessive amount of leaves or losing its leaves during seasons when leaf-shedding isn't typical, don't delay in requesting diagnosis and treatment. Furthermore, if your tree's foliage is wilted, shriveled or discolored, the tree is either suffering from a tree disease or is slowly dying.
  4. Branches Falling or Dead Branches: Severe weather conditions can cause tree branches to break. A healthy tree will have pliable, flexible branches. If you see dead branches on your outdoor grounds, inspect them closely. Are they brittle with no leaves? Do they appear to be rotted or destroyed by insects? A quick tip is to grab a small fallen branch and try to snap it. If it breaks easily rather than being flexible, the tree may be dead or dying.
  5. Damage To Tree Roots: Some trees naturally lean depending upon where they are planted. If your tree appears to be tilted, you may have root damage. Indications include exposed root areas, uplifted soil around the tree's base or noticeable wounds from weed trimmers, shovels and the like.

Do not ignore any of the above symptoms! A dying tree can topple over without notice and not only threaten your property but can put you in danger. Call an arbor care specialist immediately!

Who Can Help Me If I Have A Dying Tree?

We can! No matter what your tree care needs are, we have the ISA certified arborist, tree care expert, tree doctors and highly-experienced arbor care professionals to take care of you!

Our team is insured and bonded to give you the assurance that your property, yourself and all those present are safe and protected.

These guys were great. Very professional and knocked out a big job in just a few short hours. They clearly knew what they were doing and went above and behind to carefully analyze the health of each tree, and what was needed. As opposed to trimming and moving on. I highly recommend. They did my neighbor as well.

Very happy in my dealings with Henry and his crew. Henry came out on short notice to provide some recommendations on trimming and keeping one of my pecan trees healthy. His crew was able to come out a couple days later and were very professional and efficient. They even took the bigger limbs that were removed and cut them down for firewood and stacked the wood. Will definitely work with them again for future tree care.

Had just closed on the new house with beautiful landscape to discover my cypress trees dying and other trees on the property looking ill. Called two other arborist before I discovered Henry. Though there was no saving my already dying trees; the others were diagnosed, treated and saved. Henry was not only knowledgeable but also professional, friendly and extremely reasonable. It is almost shocking to find people like him these days. Highly recommended to all!

Great tree service. I had them come take care of a tree removal, we discussed the total price and was very happy with the work these guys do. GREAT COSTUMER SERVICE!
