Phytophthora Disease in Fort Worth, TX. Call (817) 502-9402.

What Causes Phytophthora to occur? Phytophthora, sometimes referred to as root rot or stem rot, is a complex fungal disease affecting trees and plants worldwide, and experienced tree companies encounter this menace on a regular basis. Fort Worth trees infected by this disease exhibit early leaf shedding, brown and yellow leaves, wilting, and often death. This resistant fungus easily survives during extended periods of drought, nestled deep in damp infected soil; however, disease-carrying fungal spores multiply rapidly in soil that is poorly drained, and flourish best in cool, damp weather.

Standing water is always a contributing factor to the spread of Phytophthora, and soil that has been irrigated is rarely free of the disease. Varying weather conditions in Fort Worth contributed to the quick progression of the disease and arbor care professionals are well-acquainted with the multitude of signs and indications.

The diagnosing of Phytophthora

Accurate diagnosis of Phytophthora disease is difficult and time-consuming because both visible and underground parts of the tree must be examined by an experienced plant pathologist and laboratory testing is required. Visible indications on infected trees consist of increasing cankers encircling the trunk that produce a slimy, wet bark and brownish-red interior when the bark is removed. The presence of mites and insects is further indication the disease may be present. Fort Worth trees may not show visible symptoms of the disease until the summer months if the tree does not have enough strong, functioning roots and an infected tree may wilt and collapse within a week as a result. It is of the utmost importance to contact a certified arborist and experienced tree company if you suspect your tree may be infected by Phytophthora disease.

A Proper Treatment on Phytophthora

The best solution to combatting phytophthora is to take proactive measures by working with a Fort Worth certified arborist and prevent the formation of the disease before it begins! This threatening fungal disease is difficult and often impossible to fight after it's developed, and adequate drainage must be established to ensure the growth and health of important feeder roots. Precaution must be taken to protect the tree from careless wounds and damages. Sulfur-based fertilizers, fungicides, and deep root fertilization are all means to aid in preventing phytophthora. A Fort Worth tree specialist will customize a preventative maintenance and care plan to ensure your trees and plants remain healthy and do not fall victim to this dreaded disease.

OUR REVIEWS

These guys were great. Very professional and knocked out a big job in just a few short hours. They clearly knew what they were doing and went above and behind to carefully analyze the health of each tree, and what was needed. As opposed to trimming and moving on. I highly recommend. They did my neighbor as well.

Very happy in my dealings with Henry and his crew. Henry came out on short notice to provide some recommendations on trimming and keeping one of my pecan trees healthy. His crew was able to come out a couple days later and were very professional and efficient. They even took the bigger limbs that were removed and cut them down for firewood and stacked the wood. Will definitely work with them again for future tree care.

Had just closed on the new house with beautiful landscape to discover my cypress trees dying and other trees on the property looking ill. Called two other arborist before I discovered Henry. Though there was no saving my already dying trees; the others were diagnosed, treated and saved. Henry was not only knowledgeable but also professional, friendly and extremely reasonable. It is almost shocking to find people like him these days. Highly recommended to all!
