Chlorosis Treatment in Fort Worth, TX.

What Causes Chlorosis to Show?

Chlorosis is a term originally derived from the Greek word kleros, which means pallid or greenish-yellow. Botanically, experienced plant pathologists refer to chlorosis as a serious condition frequently seen in the leaves of trees and plants that are lacking a sufficient amount of chlorophyll, which is what the tree must have to produce carbohydrates and the necessary nutrients to support its health and give the leaves their green color. This insufficient chlorophyll production results in leaves that are yellowish, pale, or have green veins with yellow plant tissue surrounding the veins and can ultimately result in the death of the tree.

Iron deficiency is one of the most common causes of chlorosis and is caused by the soil with an elevated PH level above 7.0, meaning the soil is high in alkalinity. Many trees and plants popular within Fort Worth residential areas such as oaks, maples, red tip photinia, and numerous others are highly susceptible to iron chlorosis and certified arborists within north Texas are regularly encountering this problem. Chlorosis may be triggered by other factors as well; therefore, it is of immediate importance to contact a tree care specialist when the tree is exhibiting pale or yellowing leaves.

Diagnostics on Chlorosis

The arbor care professional will confirm diagnosis based-upon investigation of the tree's leaves and physical appearance, as iron chlorosis first begins to manifest on newer leaves but in more advanced stages of chlorosis may lead to browning of leaf tips, premature foliage loss and discoloration spreading to older growth as well. Soil will be laboratory tested by the experienced plant pathologist to determine the alkaline level and the available nutrients within the soil for the tree.

The habitat grounds will be closely studied by the experienced tree company for areas where soil compaction from construction activities and inadequate drainage may have resulted in poor root growth. Injuries to the tree's root system from shovels or other lawn care activities may also contribute to the development of chlorosis. A diagnosis report will be provided by the certified arborist upon definitive confirmation of chlorosis and the best arborist in Fort Worth will personalize the necessary specific treatment and continual maintenance plan required to eliminate chlorosis from the tree and the outdoor environmental grounds.

Treating Chlorosis

Preventative measures are always the best way to control chlorosis. The tree service professional will advise and aid you in selecting tree varieties that have a higher resistance to chlorosis for areas where soil has a higher alkaline content. For trees that are severely affected by chlorosis, it may be necessary to remove them and replace them with more resistant trees. Maintaining the health and vitality of the tree by protecting the tree's root system is essential, and regular deep root fertilization as scheduled and directed by an experienced tree company ensures the roots will remain hearty. Regularly-scheduled watering and soil drenching during drought-like conditions will help to alleviate stress to the tree. Additionally, organic mulch around the tree's base ensures proper drainage and will help the tree battle various ailments that are due to extreme temperatures as is common with Texas summer weather. When chlorosis is determined to be due to iron deficiency, applying iron via trunk injections by a certified arborist who provides a one year warranty on any treatment produces quick visible results. Foliar spraying will quickly restore the green color to the leaves, but it requires multiple applications and must be scheduled and directed by an arborist that treats sick trees. To ensure the residential outdoor living environment remains green and lush, it is imperative to entrust prized statement trees to the care of the best arborist in Fort Worth!

OUR REVIEWS

These guys were great. Very professional and knocked out a big job in just a few short hours. They clearly knew what they were doing and went above and behind to carefully analyze the health of each tree, and what was needed. As opposed to trimming and moving on. I highly recommend. They did my neighbor as well.

Very happy in my dealings with Henry and his crew. Henry came out on short notice to provide some recommendations on trimming and keeping one of my pecan trees healthy. His crew was able to come out a couple days later and were very professional and efficient. They even took the bigger limbs that were removed and cut them down for firewood and stacked the wood. Will definitely work with them again for future tree care.

Had just closed on the new house with beautiful landscape to discover my cypress trees dying and other trees on the property looking ill. Called two other arborist before I discovered Henry. Though there was no saving my already dying trees; the others were diagnosed, treated and saved. Henry was not only knowledgeable but also professional, friendly and extremely reasonable. It is almost shocking to find people like him these days. Highly recommended to all!
