Spider Mite Treatment in Fort Worth, TX.

What causes Spider Mites to manifest?

Spider mites are so common throughout the United States that it is more unusual not to have them present within your outdoor living habitat than to have them! These tree and plant annoyances are the fondest of warm to hot, dry weather conditions as are typical of summers in Fort Worth and nearby cities; therefore, certified arborists begin encountering spider mites at an alarming rate in early spring as the weather is beginning to warm. There are over twelve hundred species of spider mites (Tetranychidae) known to experienced plant pathologists, with the most common varieties in north Texas being the two-spotted mite and southern red mite.

By technical description, they are not considered to be true insects but are related to ticks, scorpions, spiders and other types of arachnids. These irritants are microscopically tiny measuring less than 1/32 of an inch, have oval-shaped bodies, range in color from shades of yellow to green with many varieties also having dark spots and they have eight legs just as spiders. Spider mites occupy the underside of leaves and spin silky webs to secure their eggs and also to enable them to travel easily throughout the residential habitat via wind gusts. Because severe infestation can ultimately result in the death of the plant, it is important to contact a tree care specialist if you suspect spider mite infestation or when the appearance of your plants is not aesthetically pleasing.

Diagnosing Spider Mites

Diagnostic confirmation is a quick process for an experienced plant pathologist. Spider mites drink the nutritional fluids from plants and render the leaves dotted from their bite marks and also bronze colored, yellowish, dried, curled, shriveled or dead. Fine, silky webbing underneath the leaves is a definite indication of spider mite infestation. Spider mites endure through the winter months hidden in the bark of host trees or as eggs on the underside of the leaves attached by the silky webbing and a certified arborist will confirm their presence when the bark and leaves are examined.

Because they reproduce at an astoundingly high rate and produce many generations within only a few months during the warm Fort Worth summer season, an experienced tree company will easily verify their occupation and provide a diagnosis report.

Due to the indiscriminate nature of spider mites and the fact that they not only invade outdoor trees and plants but also commonly infest greenhouses and indoor plants as well, the tree care specialist will customize the required treatment and on-going prevention and maintenance plan necessary to preserve the environmental habitat and ensure spider mites do not destroy the trees and plants on the residential grounds.

The Treatment for Spider Mites

Immediate removal and destruction of dead or heavily infested plants by an experienced tree company are exceptionally important because this will eliminate an abundance of eggs and adult spider mites, thus greatly reducing their spread throughout the outdoor habitat. Trees and plants must be examined by a tree pruning service and trimmed regularly to remove any leaves, branches or stems that have indications of spider mites.

Residential grounds must be kept clean without any dead leaves or broken twigs laying on the soil to eliminate desired hosts for spider mite reproduction. High-power water spraying scheduled and applied as deemed necessary by an arborist that treats sick trees aids in further elimination of the irritating pests and destruction of their silky webs. Chemical pesticides must be carefully applied and monitored by a tree doctor, as they can harm the desirable natural insects that prey upon spider mites if they are not administered at the proper time or if the quantity used is more than is needed.

Organic insecticides are available and when applied and monitored by arbor care professional are highly effective in killing the mites while preventing the destruction of desired garden insects. The best Fort Worth arborist will present your options and recommend the proper and quickest way to eliminate these unsightly pests and ensure your environment and gardens remain healthy and beautiful!

OUR REVIEWS

These guys were great. Very professional and knocked out a big job in just a few short hours. They clearly knew what they were doing and went above and behind to carefully analyze the health of each tree, and what was needed. As opposed to trimming and moving on. I highly recommend. They did my neighbor as well.

Very happy in my dealings with Henry and his crew. Henry came out on short notice to provide some recommendations on trimming and keeping one of my pecan trees healthy. His crew was able to come out a couple days later and were very professional and efficient. They even took the bigger limbs that were removed and cut them down for firewood and stacked the wood. Will definitely work with them again for future tree care.

Had just closed on the new house with beautiful landscape to discover my cypress trees dying and other trees on the property looking ill. Called two other arborist before I discovered Henry. Though there was no saving my already dying trees; the others were diagnosed, treated and saved. Henry was not only knowledgeable but also professional, friendly and extremely reasonable. It is almost shocking to find people like him these days. Highly recommended to all!
