Wood Borer Treatment in Fort Worth, TX.

The Causes of Wood Borer

Fort Worth residences are graced with an abundance of beautiful ornamental trees highlighting the neighborhood landscapes. However, wood-boring insects are the most destructive threat to these majestic trees and, left untreated, will ultimately cause the death of the tree. Tree care specialists are continuously addressing the presence of these destructive insects because popular tree varieties in the north Texas area that are frequently victimized by wood borers include cottonwood, willow, crape myrtle, cherry, sweetbay magnolia, birch, poplar, and many others. There are numerous insects that are classified as wood borers, but the most common wood-boring insects that attack ornamental trees in the DFW metroplex are the flathead borer and clearwing borers.

Although these are different forms of insects and flathead borers are a type of beetle while clearwing borers are a delicate mouth, they both invade the wood while they are immature and still larvae. The destructive larvae infiltrate the tree and tunnel under the bark feeding upon the tree's vascular tissue, which is the means by which the tree distributes nutrients and water throughout its system to the limbs and foliage. Beginning indications of wood borer activity is a general weakened appearance of the tree and a certified arborist must be contacted immediately when the health of the tree is in question.

Diagnostics of Wood Borer

An experienced tree company will analyze the individual symptoms the tree is manifesting, examine the structural integrity of the suspected tree and all trees on the property and do a thorough investigation of the outdoor residential habitat during the diagnostic process. Early visual indications of wood borer presence are overall atrophy of the tree's leaves, wilting or dying of young branches or new shoot growth and fragility of branches resulting in easily-broken twigs and limbs.

Multiplying cankers and wounds giving a girdled appearance to the tree trunk are a definite indication of wood borer destruction. Chipping, peeling bark and an abundance of tiny holes along the trunk and branches indicate entry and exit points of the wood borer larvae. Increased woodpecker sighting and activity throughout the residential grounds is also a definite confirmation of wood borers, as these birds peck at the bark to feed upon the larvae and leave tell-tale holes that are their points of entry. Upon completion of the diagnosis report, the best Fort Worth arborist will customize a personalized treatment and maintenance care plan necessary to eliminate the wood destroyers and protect the residence.

Treatment for Wood Borers

Maintaining healthy trees is the best defense and prevention against wood borer invasion! Statuesque, mature trees are much more likely to have suffered wounds and split from climatic conditions, construction activities and the like; therefore, regular tree pruning by a tree service is important to keep the tree in peak health. Protecting the tree from careless injury and wounds by lawn mowing, weed trimming, and shovels from planting annuals is essential in maintaining the tree's health and guarding it against wood borers and other pests and tree diseases and these regular maintenance services should be performed by an arbor care professional. Deep root fertilization and systemic deep root feeding administered by an experienced tree company further support and maintains the tree's health. Insecticide applications may aid in reducing and eliminating wood borers and applications must always be scheduled and administered by a tree doctor. Trees are an investment and the key focal points of your residential outdoor habitat; therefore, it's of the utmost importance to entrust their care to the best Fort Worth tree company and rest assured the trees will remain healthy and beautiful!

OUR REVIEWS

These guys were great. Very professional and knocked out a big job in just a few short hours. They clearly knew what they were doing and went above and behind to carefully analyze the health of each tree, and what was needed. As opposed to trimming and moving on. I highly recommend. They did my neighbor as well.

Very happy in my dealings with Henry and his crew. Henry came out on short notice to provide some recommendations on trimming and keeping one of my pecan trees healthy. His crew was able to come out a couple days later and were very professional and efficient. They even took the bigger limbs that were removed and cut them down for firewood and stacked the wood. Will definitely work with them again for future tree care.

Had just closed on the new house with beautiful landscape to discover my cypress trees dying and other trees on the property looking ill. Called two other arborist before I discovered Henry. Though there was no saving my already dying trees; the others were diagnosed, treated and saved. Henry was not only knowledgeable but also professional, friendly and extremely reasonable. It is almost shocking to find people like him these days. Highly recommended to all!
